Rebuild Scope
The Complete Underwater Pelletizer Rebuild Process
Eternal Gear Rebuilders approaches every underwater pelletizer rebuild using a disciplined, documented process. From initial assessment through final load testing, we restore mechanical integrity systematically and verify every restoration milestone.
01
Step 1: Comprehensive Assessment & Baseline Documentation
Our engineers perform a complete pre-rebuild evaluation: runout measurements, vibration signature analysis, seal leakage documentation, bearing endplay testing, and a detailed inspection of all mechanical components, drive systems, and structural elements. We photograph, measure, and document every finding. This baseline establishes the scope of rebuild work and identifies hidden damage (gearbox pitting, shaft wear patterns, thermal stress zones) that spot repairs would miss. We provide you a detailed scope report with cost and timeline estimates.
02
Step 2: Full Mechanical Disassembly & Inspection
We completely disassemble the underwater pelletizer to the bearing-level, documenting all components, hardware, and assemblies. Each component is cleaned, ultrasonically inspected, and measured against OEM tolerances. Bearings are inspected for raceway spalling, preload loss, and contamination. Seals are examined for wear patterns. Drive shafts are checked for runout, bending, and fatigue stress. Wear rings, cutting elements, and water channel passages are inspected for corrosion, blockage, or pitting. This thorough inspection reveals the true extent of wear and guides all replacement decisions.
03
Step 3: Component Replacement & Precision Machining
Using the inspection findings, we replace all wear-critical components to OEM or upgraded specifications: mechanical seals, bearings (radial and thrust), drive shafts, couplings, fasteners, and wear rings. Worn structural elements or bearing housings are precision-machined or replaced. All components are sourced from verified suppliers; materials match OEM specifications for your thermoplastics application. Shafts are laser-straightened if needed. All surfaces are inspected for finish quality before proceeding to assembly.
04
Step 4: Reassembly, Alignment Verification & Load Testing
We reassemble the underwater pelletizer per OEM assembly specifications using calibrated torque values, documented bolt patterns, and precision shimming for alignment. Laser measurements verify runout below 0.002", bearing preload is set to OEM tolerance, and all seals are installed with proper surface finish verification. The fully rebuilt machine undergoes 8-hour production-load testing at 100% capacity, with vibration monitoring, temperature monitoring, and performance data logging. Final documentation includes as-built drawings, component certifications, and test results. The pelletizer ships production-ready.
05
Step 5: Documentation & OEM Compliance
You receive complete rebuild documentation: pre- and post-rebuild photos, component replacement list with part numbers and serial numbers, test data (runout, vibration, leakage, temperature), calibration certifications for all critical components, and as-built specifications. This documentation supports your maintenance records, warranty claims, and production audits. For thermoplastics operations requiring material traceability or process validation, we provide component certifications matching your requirements.
