Moisture Damage and Corrosion Progression
Pulp mill environments introduce continuous exposure to moisture and steam, causing progressive corrosion within internal cavities, bearing housings, and shaft journals. Early-stage surface rust is manageable, but long-term moisture penetration causes subsurface pitting, material loss, and structural weakening. Once corrosion becomes systemic rather than localized, replacing a single bearing or seal does not address the degraded housing or shaft that hosts it. A full rebuild includes acid-dip corrosion removal, precision re-machining of all bearing surfaces, and complete seal replacement to prevent recurrence.
